Reidwaan Wookay
Reidwaan Wookay is a financial services executive with over 20 years of experience in banking, development finance, risk management, and corporate governance. As Principal: Risk and Governance Management at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), he advises the Chief Risk Officer and executive committees on credit risk, ESG integration, and enterprise resilience.
He leads efforts to align the Bank’s governance and risk frameworks with sustainable development priorities, embedding ESG principles and strengthening its credit risk appetite. Reidwaan also chairs the DBSA Provident Fund Board of Trustees and serves on the National Treasury’s Sustainable Finance Initiatives Steering Committee, helping to integrate sustainability into South Africa’s financial sector.
Previously, he was an Independent Non-Executive Director at African Men for Sexual Health and Rights (AMSHeR), where he chaired the Audit, Risk and Finance Committee. Currently an Executive DBA candidate at École des Ponts Business School in Paris, his research focuses on ESG-driven credit risk modelling and sustainable finance innovation.
